Hey there. As I said in the intro, I'm not Bosnian. I'm American. I lived in the Balkans for a while and currently work in a refugee program and have a lot of experience with Bosnians. I've visited the country too and have dated a Bosnian. I'm sorry to see that this group isn't more active. How to get the word out? By posting in other groups maybe? I have a group about travel in the Balkans. Maybe another member would join that group and mention this one? balkantravel.tribe.net - I'd love to have some pics from Bosnia added there, too.
Also, a friend of mine started a tribe today for people living in the U.S. who are dealing with the struggles of adjustment to language, culture, communication, etc. I don't know the URL, but the name of the group is Not Born in the USA. I'm a member so you can link through my profile.
Nadam se da cemo se upoznati i da ce pleme malo rasti.
Sve najbolje svima - Patrick

Re: Pozdravo od jednog amerikanca
Mon, January 24, 2005 - 4:44 PMand six month later, there is a response:
"I'm sorry to see that this group isn't more active. How to get the word out? By posting in other groups maybe?"
and this is a partial copy of my answer to Deep Blue
as with any other group - most people here are concerned about what i will call "the immediate life" and there is only so many of us who can and are willing participate in "bosnia" conversation. so, if you check "la nightlife" type of forum (and since i live in la, that's what i can sort of connect to, there is a zilion people discussing the nuances of lemon drop martinis. this group will have more people only if there is a valuable information and clever conversation combined together - everything else will (at least for me) end like conversation on Balkan byways - kind of about something but mostly about nothing -

Re: Pozdravo od jednog amerikanca
Tue, January 25, 2005 - 10:10 AMWhat to do? Hm. Good question. If you find out let me know. I guess the topic of "Bosnia" just doesn't beg to be discussed. It's not hip and happenin. Now if the tribe were 'Bosnians who drive SUV's are assholes" or "Expose Yourself Naked in Bosnia" I think that there would be a lot more activity. -

Re: Pozdravo od jednog amerikanca
Tue, January 25, 2005 - 4:25 PMyeap, there would be more to talk about - the problem of short memory is quite obvious. now, i would not want to discuss war here all the time, but since the results of that war are still so present (as you probably have noticed while visiting Serbia recently) that is one of the (non-hip) topics that cannot be discussed. it also seems that there was no "goal" when this tribe was established. it was like, lets do it, and then whatever - then again, it seems that most of the tribes here (unless very specific/professional) suffer from the same thing
